Fable is Delayed to 2026

- Fable will not launch within its original 2025 release window as it has been delayed to 2026.
- The delay will let Fable launch in a less competitive release window, a year after GTA 6 2025 planned release.
- Some of the game’s new footage was revealed during the Xbox Podcast showcasing a werewolf character.
Fable will not hit its original 2025 release window as Xbox Game Studios head Craig Duncan announced on the Xbox Podcast that the game has been pushed to 2026.
“We’re really excited about Fable’s progress,” Duncan said during the podcast, “but we’re going to give Playground Games more time to refine and perfect it. It’s going to ship in 2026 now.”
Despite the news about the postponement, Duncan praised the development team at Playground Games, known for their work on the Forza Horizon series, calling the latest build of Fable “amazing.”
Some of the game’s new footage was revealed during the podcast, showcasing the game’s progress and the inclusion of features like a werewolf character.
The delay isn’t entirely unexpected. Fable has been one of Xbox’s most ambitious projects, with Playground hiring top talent from studios like Rockstar and CD Projekt RED to elevate the game’s storytelling and gameplay. With GTA 6 also scheduled for 2025, the delay will give Fable room to breathe in a less competitive release window.
