King’s Road was released worldwide in 2017 and has exceeded 13 million downloads in May of 2020. The game was developed by Vespa, an indie game studio based in South Korea. During its heyday, King’s Raid was collaborating with Dreamcatcher, a very popular Korean Pop group. It also had an anime adaptation that aired back in 2020.

In November 2023, the studio behind King’s Road reportedly laid off all of their employees. A Reddit post talking about the shutdown of the game has other users put their opinions forward regarding the reason as to why the game is shutting down. A user by the username of UncookedNoodles said that the reason was because of another game made by the studio.

Vespa released a game called Time Defenders in 2022 which shut down just two years after its release. According to UncookedNoodles, Vespa put too much money into the development of Time Defenders and with it flopping, the company went bankrupt.

In August 2021, Vespa released a teaser trailer for King’s Raid 2. However, the studio didn’t follow up on it after its announcement. It’s unclear whether this game is still in production or abandoned.
