  2. This is the first time Tibia is releasing a new vocation in almost three decades.
  3. There will be a public playtest of the vocation on February 25.

Tibia is planning to release a fifth vocation, the Monk, the first vocation to be introduced to the game outside of the four initial ones. The Monk is designed to fill the role of a melee fighter who can also heal their teammates.

In a blog post, the developers detailed how they arrived with Monk being the newest vocation. According to them, they’ve made sure to not make the rest of the vocations useless and made sure the Monk filled a unique position. The developers wanted a melee fighter that could heal and that’s when they found Monk to be the answer.

There were also other considerations for the class, mainly Bard and Rogue. However, Bard doesn’t fit the melee fighter criteria, while Rogue doesn’t have the connotation of a class that can heal. Aside from this, the developers also made sure that the class wouldn’t feel out of place in the world of Tibia.

For almost three decades, Tibia only had four vocations: Knight, Sorcerer, Paladin, and Druid. All these four were already available during the game’s release and were only tweaked as the game continued its long lifespan.

A public playtest is set to happen on February 25 where players will be able to play the newest vocation. There’s still no exact release date for the vocation, but the developers mentioned that it will come this year.

Tibia was released in January 1997. The game is one of the oldest MMORPG games in the market that’s still up and running. In 2022, the game received its sound update which added sound effects and background music to the game.
