  1. Assassin’s Creed Shadows Creative director states that players won’t miss out on key content by playing only one of two protagonists.
  2. Dumont states that the game adapts to the player’s choice of character, with distinct introductions and questlines for each of them.
  3. Ubisoft has delayed the game’s release to March 20, ensuring they can refine the game further based on player feedback.

Creative director Jonathan Dumont reassures players that sticking only with one of two protagonists won’t impact gameplay in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows offers players a chance to control two distinct characters, Yasuke, the samurai, and Naoe, the ninja, letting gamers switch between them. Those who prefer one protagonist over the other won’t be missing out on crucial content, according to creative director Jonathan Dumont.

In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Dumont clarified that the game adapts to player choices, meaning sticking with one character won’t leave gaps in the story. “I don’t think you’re missing out on things too much,” Dumont said. “It’s more about personal preference. You get individual introductions and questlines, but the core of the game is designed to adapt regardless of who you play.”

Both Yasuke and Naoe come with unique abilities—Yasuke is all about brute strength, while Naoe excels in stealth and speed. While each character has their questline, Dumont assured that players can enjoy the main game without feeling forced to switch between them. “I play quite a bit balanced out,” Dumont added. “I’ll play as one character for several hours, then switch to the other to mix up the gameplay.”

Assassin’s Creed Shadows was originally set for release last November but has faced multiple delays. The latest launch date is set for March 20, with Ubisoft stating that the extra development time will allow for more player feedback to be incorporated.
