A sequel to The Order: 1886 was rejected by Sony, according to the co-founder of Ready At Dawn. However, he also said that it might’ve been better that they didn’t do it because it might’ve been a disaster.

Andrea Pessino, a co-founder of Ready at Dawn, hopped on a call with Ben Hanson for an interview on MinnMax and revealed information about The Order: 1886. According to him, the sequel would’ve been an incredible sequel. But if they went forward with the development, the budget for the game would be small and the studio would be at the mercy of the higher-ups.

Pessino thinks the main reason the game wasn’t given a chance to redeem itself was the lukewarm response to the game. The game received very mixed reviews on launch with Metacritic giving it a 63/100. He thinks if the game reached around 70’s the sequel would’ve been greenlit.

Hanson asked Pessino if the game was going to be set in 1986, to which Pessino replied “No, it’s way better than that”. Pessino said that he can’t give much information about the sequel as Ready at Dawn doesn’t own the rights to the game.

The Order: 1886 is an action-adventure game developed by Ready at Dawn, the same developers of God of War: Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta. The game was released in February 2015 for the PlayStation 4.
