Krafton has announced a new entry in the PUBG franchise – PUBG: Blindspot, a top-down shooter that deviates from the series’ traditional battle royale formula. A demo for the game is set to launch on Feb. 20 via Steam.
It is implied that a shift in perspective brings with it a host of tactical gameplay elements that encourage team coordination and planning, an approach reminiscent of tactical shooters like Rainbow Six Siege. According to the developers, this new top-down view will allow players to adapt their strategies and combat in deep CQB (Close-quarters Battle) cooperative tactics that weren’t possible in the original PUBG.

The other key feature of upcoming PUBG: Blindspot is its emphasis on operators, with ten unique characters available at launch. Each operator will come equipped with a distinct set of skills.
“The operators’ gadgets are designed to complement each other, fostering a dynamic environment where strategy and quick thinking are key to victory,” said a PUBG Studios representative.
The demo will include seven maps, four of them for the Demolition game mode and three for Deathmatch. Each map offers a different playstyle, with Demolition focusing on mission-based objectives and Deathmatch offering a more traditional shooter experience.
Post-launch updates are expected to introduce new characters, further expanding the gameplay options. Although PUBG: Blindspot shares the PUBG name, it is not a direct sequel to the original battle royale game.
As of the latest available data, the PUBG franchise has grossed over $17 billion in revenue, making it one of the highest-grossing video game franchises in addition to the fifth place on the list of best-selling video games with 75 million sold copies.
