  2. A patent surfaced talking about the console’s Joy-Con capabilities.
  3. The Switch 2’s Joy-Cons will be magnetically attached to the console.

After teasing Nintendo Switch 2’s mouse-like capabilities in its reveal trailer, it’s all but confirmed that the newest Switch will have it as new patents surface talking about it.

The patent was published on February 7, however, it’s all in Japanese. Luckily, there’s a short summary of what the patent is about, this summary is also called an abstract. It describes the new Joy-Cons included in the Switch 2 which are now magnetically attached to the console.

The most exciting part of this patent is that some of the drawings depict the user holding it the same way a person would hold a mouse. Wario64, a Twitter user famous for tweeting deals regarding games, also spotted a page where it mentioned that the input device can be used as a mouse. However, since the whole patent is in Japanese and Wario64 used a translation software on it, there might be inconsistencies.

The Switch 2 having mouse features will make things easier for people to play shooter games on it, as hinted by Shuhei Yoshida in his interview with MinnMax. Games like Halo, Call of Duty, and Apex Legends will feel more natural to play for players who come from the PC. However, this will also cause the Switch users to have an advantage over other console players.

Nintendo will hold a Switch 2 Direct on April 2 where fans will be able to learn more about the exciting console coming out this year.
