Nintendo Switch 2 Direct Set for April 2, Key Details Still Unknown

Nintendo will host a Nintendo Switch 2 Direct on April 2, providing “a closer look” at its upcoming console. The three-hour event will run from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. PT and will be streamed live on Nintendo’s official YouTube channel.

As of February 6, hardware specifications for the upcoming device have not been revealed – the community did see a quick teaser of the upcoming Mario Kart game for the new console, alongside some aesthetic b roll of the console itself. 

Future staple Nintendo exclusive titles, outside of Mario Kart have not been announced – leaving many unanswered questions circulating the community. 

With three hours of Direct presentation time, Nintendo is expected to showcase upcoming first-party and third-party games, though specific titles remain unknown. A new Mario Kart game is widely expected to be showcased; speculation is already mounting about a possible Super Smash Bros. reveal, and some publications expect to see titles such as Halo, Assassin’s Creed and Metal Gear Solid Delta during the show.

The original Nintendo Switch has sold 146 million units since its launch eight years ago, making it one of the most successful gaming consoles of all time. Its impact on the industry has set high expectations for its successor, with fans eagerly awaiting details on its capabilities, launch lineup, and price point.
