- Obsidian Entertainment confirmed their upcoming RPG will offer a performance mode with 60 FPS on Xbox Series X.
- They previously mentioned it would only hit 30 FPS.
- Avowed Premium Edition grants five days early access.
Despite months of developer assurances that 30 FPS would be sufficient, Avowed will support 60 FPS at launch on February 18, as confirmed by Game Director Carrie Patel in a recent YouTube interview.
“You can get up to 60 frames per second,” Carrie Patel promptly responds.
60 FPS will likely be available for PC as well, assuming the hardware running the game is up to capacity. On Steam, the system requirements state:
Minimum:
- Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
- OS: Windows 10/11 with updates
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 / Intel i5-8400
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: AMD RX 5700 / Nvidia GTX 1070 / Intel Arc A580
- DirectX: Version 12
- Storage: 75 GB available space

This news is slightly contradictory to a previous interview, where Obsidian Art Director Matt Hansen stated the studio is “core targeting 30 frames per second, bare minimum. […] It’s a first-person, single player game, you don’t necessarily need that 60 frames.”
When Avowed was initially slated to release with only 30 FPS for the Xbox Series X, fans were infuriated. The console marketed 60 FPS as their benchmark, yet various game releases, Avowed included, seemed to fall short of the current generation console’s promises. Another notable Xbox release, Starfield, also launched without 60FPS support; a move was widely criticized at the time. Eventually Bethesda added 60FPS support for the Xbox Series X.
Avowed is an upcoming first person, single player fantasy RPG that costs $69.99. Players can access the game earlier than the February 18 release date with the premium edition, which costs $89.99, which grants five days early access, two premium skin packs, and a digital artbook and soundtrack.
The combat system offers a diverse selection of weapons tailored to different play styles, including ranged, melee, and magic options.
