Microsoft officially announced Playstation 5 ports for Age of Mythology: Retold and Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition. These games are two of many previously Xbox exclusive games that are now going cross platform, with other confirmed titles including Forza Horizon 5 and Sea of Thieves.

Age of Mythology: Retold releases on Playstation 5 on March 4, 2025 – for players wanting to play the game early, they can access it on February 27, 2025 if they purchase the Premium Edition.

As for Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition, the remaster of the 2002 real-time strategy game has no confirmed release date – but the studio does plan to debut it this spring. There are content updates planned alongside the rerelease.

According to pushsquare, the standard edition of Age of Mythology: Retold costs $29.99, with the premium edition costing $49.99. No price has been revealed for Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition on PlayStation 5 at this time.

The upcoming Playstation 5 ports were announced in a blog post on the official Age of Empires website, where they detailed various content updates alongside plans for the future.

“Playing across all platforms is a game-changer for our franchise, and it’s all about bringing our community together. This isn’t just about convenience—it’s about growing and strengthening the Age community. With cross-play, we’re creating one global battlefield where every strategy, every empire, and every player matters,” Michael Mann said in the blog post.

Age of Empires is a real-time strategy game series where players build civilizations and prepare for warfare across various regions and eras. The series’ debut on Playstation is part of Microsoft’s attempt to expand into other consoles
