Key points

  1. Packs with guaranteed hits are going to be given away in Pokémon Pocket TCG.
  2. Each player will receive one of each booster pack from the Genetic Apex expansion.
  3. However, there might be problems regarding rarities.

In a leak first seen in the Pokémon Pocket TCG Subreddit, it seems that three Genetic Apex packs are going to be distributed to players during Pokémon Day, February 27.

The giveaway includes a pack from each of the boosters included in the Genetic Apex expansion. One Charizard, one Mewtwo, and one Pikachu. The twist with these packs is that the fifth card inside it is guaranteed to be a 4-diamond or higher card.

4-diamond cards are EX Pokémon cards which are one of the rarest cards in the game. However, according to the leak, the devs also consider 1-star cards to be higher in rarity than 4-diamond cards. 1-star cards are full arts of basic Pokémon which isn’t good in terms of battling as EX Pokémons are amongst the most powerful cards in the game.

Not to mention, when exchanging pack points for cards, both 4-diamond rarity Pokémons cost 500 points while 1-star rarity Pokémons cost 400 points. If players somehow get a 1-star Pokémon from the pack instead of a much-needed 4-diamond card to finish their deck, that would be devastating.

But it’s wise to consider this news with a grain of salt. Even if the information was datamined, there may still be last-minute changes that might happen.

Pokémon Pocket TCG was released in October 2024 and it allows players to collect Pokémon cards and put them into albums. For more competitive players, the game also allows them to battle with decks they’ve built. Pokémon Pocket TCG has a 12-hour cycle where the player will be rewarded with a chance to open a pack for free from whichever expansion they want.

The game has recently released its third expansion, Space-Time Smackdown. This expansion features fourth-generation Pokémons and even has a card for Cynthia.
