Nintendo is celebrating the 25th anniversary of Ridge Racer 64 by bringing the racing game to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, the premium tier of its online subscription service.

Nintendo announced the return of Ridge Racer 64 with a trailer. The re-release, however, is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, which costs $50 per year for individual memberships and $80 for family plans.

Ridge Racer 64 includes a variety of modes. Casual players can dive into Quick Play mode for a fast run through the Revolution Novice course, while seasoned racers can test their skills in Grand Prix mode across nine different tracks. The game also brings back modes such as Car Attack, Time Attack, Battle Mode, Stage Mode, and Team Mode. Local multiplayer support for up to four players also returns.

The re-release of Ridge Racer 64 marks another addition to Nintendo’s expanding online retro library. In recent months, the company has also added classic SNES games like Fatal Fury 2, Sutte Hakkun, and Super Ninja Boy, as well as Sega Genesis titles such as ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron, Vectorman, and Mercs.

Ridge Racer 64, released in 2000 for the Nintendo 64, achieved total sales of approximately 400,000 units worldwide. The most recent installment in the Ridge Racer series is Ridge Racer Unbounded, released in 2012 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
