Blizzard is Teasing Huge Overwatch 2 Changes

In a blog post uploaded on January 29, Blizzard announced that there will be massive changes to Overwatch 2’s PvP gameplay.

The blog post hints at something “groundbreaking” and “unlike anything you’ve seen before”. Despite these bold claims, Blizzard said nothing about the changes that will be implemented in the game.

Instead, the blog post mentions that the changes will be too long to be contained in a blog or a developer update. So, Blizzard takes this chance to announce a new livestream event called Overwatch 2 Spotlight which will be available to stream on YouTube and Twitch.

The Spotlight will happen on February 12 and will feature new maps, heroes, and content. Blizzard is also promising a look at the incredible changes in gameplay. The developers are also inviting content creators to go to the Blizzard Headquarters located in Irvine, California to attend the Spotlight.

Overwatch 2 has been in a slump even before the release of Marvel Rivals. The game has gone through rough times with rumors of the cancelation of its story mode, among many other issues, resulting in it having a Mostly Negative review score on Steam. It doesn’t help that the Marvel Rivals, the new kid on the block, is stealing all of its spotlight boasting a Very Positive review score.

Overwatch 2 was announced at BlizzCon 2019 and was released in August 2023. The game initially had positive reviews with Game Informer giving it a 9/10 and IGN giving it an 8/10.
