Key points

  1. Blizzard Entertainment brings a Lunar Awakening event in Diablo 4 to celebrate the Lunar New Year.
  2. The event is available in both Eternal and Seasonal realms.
  3. As of September 2024, Diablo 4  has generated over $1 billion in total revenue.

Blizzard Entertainment has brought back Diablo 4’s Lunar Awakening event to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Running from February 4 to 18, the event introduces enhanced Lunar Shrines, a doubled XP bonus, and a bunch of new cosmetics to unlock.

The event, available on both Eternal and Seasonal realms, replaces standard shrines with Lunar Shrines, which offer more powerful effects. For example, Lunar Artillery Shrines can now unleash holy bombs alongside their usual holy arrows, while Lunar Greed Shrines have a chance to summon Treasure Goblins with every kill.

These unique shrine effects remain the same as last year, but the big change for 2025 is the XP boost – a 100% multiplicative experience bonus while under a shrine’s effects, up from 50% in 2024. It can come in handy for players leveling new characters and earning endgame Paragon points.

Players can earn event-specific reputation by defeating monsters under the influence of Lunar Shrines, unlocking 10 rewards on the event’s track. These include a mount, weapon appearances, and a Resplendent Spark for crafting Mythic Uniques.

Additionally, Lunar Awakening-themed cosmetics will be available in Diablo 4’s premium shop during the event.

The Lunar Awakening event coincides with the ongoing Season of Witchcraft, which introduced supernatural powers inspired by Diablo 3’s Witch Doctor, such as Firebats and Piranhado. The recent 1.3.0 update also added the Armory feature, allowing players to save up to five loadouts per character to encourage build experimentation.

Diablo 4 is available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms and as of September 2024, the game has generated over $1 billion in total revenue since its launch in June 2023.
