Capcom Cup 11, the most prestigious Street Fighter 6 tournament, is happening in Japan this March 3-5 and features the world’s best fighting game players to ever touch the game.

Capcom Cup 11 is the culmination of a year’s worth of tournaments, both online and offline, and it features the best Street Fighter 6 players, such as Victor “Punk” Woodley and Hajime “Tokido” Taniguchi. Both Punk and Tokido are EVO tournament champions, which is considered the most important tournament series in all of the fighting games, and winning it is a gargantuan task as it usually features the largest number of participants in a tournament.
The tournament is set to happen in an arena that’s a huge staple in Sumo tournaments: Ryogoku Kokugikan. Not only that, the tournament will also award the winner a million dollars. This is one of the biggest prize money for a tournament winner in Street Fighter 6.
Capcom Cup 11 is not an open tournament, which means that players can’t just register online for it and show up on the day. The participants of the tournament have earned their spot by winning premier tournaments or world warrior circuit tournaments. These tournaments happen all over the world and attract talents from overseas, with players like Alan “Nephew” Sun traveling to Singapore from the US just to enter a qualifier tournament there, which eventually resulted in him qualifying for Capcom Cup 11.
The tournament will start by dividing the players randomly into eight groups and then a round-robin happens. The first and second place of each group will then proceed to the top 16 of the tournament. Since the tournament operates on double-elimination, once the top 16 starts, the first placers of each group will start on the winner’s side of the bracket, and the second placers will start on the loser’s side.
All of the matches, including the group stage round-robin, will be broadcast on the CapcomFighters channel on Twitch and YouTube.
