Besides the announcement of full shifting to the next project codenamed Excalibur, game developer and publisher Larian Studios announced the eighth patch for Baldur’s Gate 3.

Patch 8, another major update for Baldur’s Gate 3, introduces a photo mode, and significant bug fixes. The headline feature of Patch 8 is cross-platform multiplayer that enables players across PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and even Mac to unite in multiplayer sessions for the first time.

To ensure a smooth rollout, Larian is conducting a stress test ahead of the patch’s official release. Interested players can register for the test via the Xbox Insider Hub app or through Larian’s network for PC and PlayStation platforms. However, participation in the stress test will be staggered in waves, and Mac users will not have access to cross-platform play during this phase.

In addition to cross-play, Patch 8 adds a photo mode, giving players the tools to capture their adventures in detail. The update is also debuting 12 new subclasses, offering deeper character customization.

Simultaneously with the celebration of over 100 million mod downloads, in Patch 8, the developer has made improvements to the in-game mod manager, streamlining the experience for both PC and console players.

Patch 8 also addresses numerous issues with bug fixes and performance improvements, including:

  • Fixing savegame problems involving Umbral Gems in the Gauntlet of Shar.
  • Resolving animation glitches and companion dialogue interruptions.
  • Enhancing performance in key areas like the Adamantine Forge.
  • Correcting issues with character interactions, such as Shadowheart’s presumed death and Minthara’s appearances in Moonrise Towers.

Larian also emphasized improvements in multiplayer functionality, including fixes for loading screen errors during modded sessions and clearer messaging about third-party mod warnings.
