Rebel Wolves, the new studio founded by ex-CD Projekt veteran, has revealed the first cinematic trailer for their dark fantasy action RPG called The Blood of Dawnwalker.
Published by Bandai Namco, this single-player, open-world title is set in 14th-century Europe, haunted by the aftermath of the Plague pandemic with the world’s long-hidden vampires seeing an opportunity to step out and seize control over humanity at its weak point. The four-minute trailer introduces Coen, a young man transformed into a Dawnwalker, a creature with vampire-like abilities bound to both day and night. “Legends turn into reality, and history as we know it will never be the same,” teases the studio. The project is being developed using Unreal Engine 5.
Rebel Wolves was established in 2022 by the director of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and head of production for Cyberpunk 2077, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz. After 17 years at CD Projekt, Tomaszkiewicz wanted to shift to smaller projects with a smaller team, hoping to avoid the challenges he faced while working on large-scale games at CD Projekt till May 2021.
Newborn studio is charged with a team of industry heavyweights, including Cyberpunk 2077 secondary director Jakub Szamałek, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz as creative director, design director Daniel Sadowski, and art director Bartłomiej Gaweł, all of whom previously worked on The Witcher series and Cyberpunk 2077. By May 2024, Rebel Wolves had expanded from around 20 to 90 team members.
Konrad Tomaszkiewicz has noted that The Blood of Dawnwalker will be more compact than The Witcher 3 but may feature a higher density of quests, offering a richer, more immersive experience.
The Blood of Dawnwalker will be released on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, marking the debut of Rebel Wolves studio.
