At the Consumer Electronics Show 2025, Nvidia announced the launch of its next-generation GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards and expansions in cloud gaming, along with software updates and improvements.

The centerpiece of Nvidia’s presentation, traditionally led by its CEO Jensen Huang, was the GeForce RTX 50 series, powered by Nvidia’s Blackwell GPU architecture. This new series with fourth-generation Ray Tracing Cores and fifth-generation Tensor Cores on board promises advancements in gaming performance, with new models available starting at $549.

Releasing Jan. 30:

  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 5080 – $999;
  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 5090 – $1,999.

Releasing Feb. 2025:

  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 5070 – $549;
  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 5070 Ti – $749.

New Nvidia’s Blackwell GPU architecture supports GDDR7 memory, enhanced PCIe Gen 5, and DisplayPort 2.1b UHBR20 ports. The GPU also introduces neural shaders, which can help in compressing game texture data.

The company also revealed its broader global reach, bringing gaming to new regions, including India and Latin America. By June 2024, Nvidia’s market capitalization surpassed $3.3 trillion, briefly positioning it as the world’s most valuable publicly traded company, ahead of tech giants like Microsoft and Apple.

Deep Learning Super Sampling

DLSS 4, a suite of neural rendering technologies powered by GeForce RTX Tensor Cores. Nvidia states that the new generation offers a feature that generates up to three additional frames per traditional frame. Games like Cyberpunk 2077 have reportedly shown a frame-rate increase, with the RTX 5090 hitting 246 frames per second (fps) compared to 141 fps on the previous DLSS generation.

New Nvidia Reflex

Nvidia also introduced Reflex 2, a technology designed to reduce system latency in gaming, allowing for faster response times between the player’s inputs (mouse/keyboard/gamepad clicks) and what the player sees on screen. The company states that the second generation of Reflex includes Frame Warp technology that is designed to reduce latency by up to 75%. Nvidia asserts that this technology will have a profound impact on competitive gaming, particularly in titles like Valorant and The Finals, where reduced latency can make all the difference in fast-paced gameplay.

GeForce NOW Expansion

The company’s GeForce NOW cloud gaming service’s native app is coming to the Steam Deck in 2025. Nvidia’s CEO declared that the new app will enable users to stream games on a handheld gaming computer produced by Valve Corporation at 4K 60fps with HDR. The company’s cloud gaming service will also be supported on new VR platforms, including Meta Quest 3, Pico headsets, and Apple Vision Pro.

Updates for Content Creators

Nvidia announced new features for content creators that will be available for use in Davinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, Capcut, and Wondershare Filmora starting in February 2025. As stated at the company’s presentation, the upgraded Nvidia Decoder can decode and playback up to “eight 4K60 4:2:2 video streams” simultaneously. The RTX 50 series also supports 4:2:2 pro-grade color format, multiview-HEVC (MV-HEVC) for 3D and virtual reality (VR) video, and a new AV1 Ultra High-Quality mode. Also, it was declared that the RTX 50 series’ new NVENC encoders can encode HEVC and AV1 video up to 5% faster.

The Nvidia Broadcast app is being updated with two new features: Studio Voice and Virtual Key Light. For now, live streamers on Streamlabs can integrate an AI agent powered by Nvidia ACE and Inworld AI to interact with and manage their streams.
