The lineup includes movies based on Horizon Zero Dawn and Helldivers, as well as an anime adaptation of Ghost of Tsushima titled Legends.

For now, the Horizon Zero Dawn franchise has sold over 32.7 million copies worldwide, including the original ARPG title, its DLC Frozen Wilds, a LEGO game, a VR spinoff and the sequel Horizon Forbidden West with its DLC Burning Shores. Although details about the movie, including its cast and release date, remain under wraps.

Sony also revealed that Ghost of Tsushima, which has sold over 13 million copies worldwide as of September 2024, will be adapted into an anime series titled Legends. The show is being produced by Aniplex, the studio behind Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, and is set to premiere on Crunchyroll in 2027.

Sony’s renewed push for video game adaptations comes on the heels of several financial successes like HBO’s The Last of Us starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, the Uncharted movie with Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg in lead roles and Peacock’s Twisted Metal series with Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz.

While some adaptations, such as the animated Horizon Zero Dawn show for Netflix, are shelved for undisclosed reasons, the number of Sony’s game titles coming to the silver screen is rising.
