January kicks off with new titles coming to subscriptions by Sony and Microsoft, and while PS Plus highlights the first month of the year with DC action, Microsoft brings up Diablo with EA Sports UFC 5 and others.

The announcement, made on Jan. 7 by Megan Spurr, Senior Community Lead at Xbox Game Pass, on the company’s official blog, promised 34 million subscribers a mix of new games and perks.

Among the new arrivals, gamers can look forward to the narrative adventure Road 96, developed and published by the French studio DigixArt, with additional publishing support from Plug In Digital and Ravenscourt. The game returns to the Game Pass library on its announcement day, Jan. 7. It will be available on Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC through three subscription plans: Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Standard.

Three more games are joining Game Pass Standard on Jan. 8 alongside one game preview:

  • Post-apocalyptic farm life simulation RPG My Time at Sandrock, developed by Pathea Games and published by PM Studios in collaboration with Focus Entertainment, will be available on the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One|One S|One X;
  • ARPG with base-building elements Robin Hood – Sherwood Builders developed by MeanAstronauts and published by PlayWay S.A. comes for Xbox Series X|S;
  • A life sim about running your own restaurant as a robot chef, Rolling Hills, developed by Catch & Release and published by Humble Games, will be available on the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One|One S|One X;
  • Game preview of farming in a mech sim Lightyear Frontier comes for Xbox Series X|S.

Two major titles of the month are coming on Jan. 14:

  • Developed by EA Vancouver and published by EA Sports, mixed martial arts fighter EA Sports  UFC 5 will be available on Cloud and Xbox Series X|S via EA Play for Game Pass Ultimate members, who can also snatch up the Bruce Lee Bundle for free till Feb. 11.
  • The ARPG that defined the genre, Diablo, developed by Blizzard North and released by Blizzard Entertainment in 1997, comes on PC within Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.

In January, Game Pass Ultimate members are getting such exclusive perks as:

  • The First Descendant Season 2: Ancestors Bundle;
  • Vigor: Coast Guardian Pack;
  • Apex Legends: Feelin’ Lucky? Weapon Charm;
  • Metaball: Punk Pack

Several titles that are yet available on Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One|One S|One X, and PC will leave the Game Pass library on Jan. 15, including Escape Academy, Insurgency Sandstorm, Common’Hood, Exoprimal, Figment, and Those Who Remain.
