Japanese multinational video game publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced that registration for the Elden Ring: Nightreign network test will open on January 10, 2025, with the test scheduled for February 2025.

The upcoming game is a cooperative spinoff of the famed Elden Ring directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, with worldbuilding by George R. R. Martin, author of A Song of Ice and Fire. A new title developed by FromSoftware was revealed at The Game Awards 2024 and is scheduled for release in 2025 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Nevertheless, the Nightreign is a continuation of the original Elden Ring’s narrative, it is a standalone ARPG focused on a three-player co-op roguelike experience that features some new mechanics such as grand boss battles, epic combat, new distinct playable characters, a new magical spirit-like bird used for gliding through the air, and more.

Scheduled network test of Elden Ring: Nightreign is a preliminary verification test in which the selected testers play a part of the game prior to the full game launch. Large-scale network load tests will be conducted to evaluate the technical performance of online systems to provide a better experience for gamers on the release date.

As of December 2024, Elden Ring had achieved global sales of 28.6 million units
