Guarded by the iconic Jedi Order, the Galactic Republic served as a pillar of peace in the galaxy for countless generations. However, several centuries ago, the galaxy faced its gravest threat from the dark Sith Empire. Following a tumultuous war, the Republic triumphed, leading to the belief that the Sith were eradicated. Yet, the Jedi continued to watch over the ancient Sith homeworld, Korriban, to safeguard the galaxy from the lingering shadows within its crypts.
Although a handful of survivors managed to escape and alert the Republic of the Imperial advance, it was merely a brief pause for the Republic. Korriban became one of many worlds claimed during the initial assault, and in the years that ensued, the Republic endured additional devastating losses. Fueled by their continuous victories, the Empire quickly advanced to seize the Core Worlds, cleverly drawing the Republic fleet out of position and launching an unexpected strike on the noble planet of Alderaan.
The valiant defense of Alderaan inspired defenders of the Republic throughout the galaxy; however, the power dynamics tilted heavily in favor of the Empire. This made the Imperial Dark Council’s unexpected proposal for peace negotiations all the more shocking. Fearing a potential trap, Republic leaders agreed to convene on Alderaan but demanded that the Jedi Order deploy all available resources for robust security. The Jedi complied, dispatching their most esteemed members to Alderaan while leaving only a minimal contingent at the Temple on Coruscant.
