The thrilling action game revolves around Alexander J. Mercer (voiced by Barry Pepper), who mysteriously awakens in a morgue beneath Gentek, a cutting-edge genetic engineering firm in Manhattan. As he escapes, he witnesses military operatives ruthlessly eliminate the scientists who were about to perform an autopsy on him. Alex remarkably survives their gunfire, showcasing his newfound superhuman abilities, including extraordinary shapeshifting, enhanced strength, agility, and the power to “consume” others to absorb their memories and skills. With no recollection of his past, Alex embarks on a mission to track down those involved in a sinister conspiracy, clashing with two menacing factions: the United States Marine Corps and the covert Blackwatch unit, which is tasked with neutralizing biological threats, alongside the horrifying Infected creatures spawned from the BLACKLIGHT virus that is wreaking havoc across Manhattan.
In his quest for answers, Alex reconnects with his sister, Dana (voiced by Lake Bell), who helps him hunt down key targets, leading to a daring infiltration of Gentek headquarters. There, he discovers Elizabeth Greene, a host for the BLACKLIGHT virus, who unleashes chaos upon the city upon her escape. Seeking to stop the viral outbreak, Dana directs Alex to his ex-girlfriend, Karen Parker.
