Metal Gear Online
Metal Gear Online, often referred to as MGO or MGO2, was a thrilling online multiplayer experience stemming from the iconic Metal Gear franchise. The game made its debut at Kojima Productions’ 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Metal Gear series. While earlier titles like Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence and Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops offered optional online modes known as “Metal Gear Online,” this version was initially pitched as a standalone title, inspired by the gameplay and world of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Ultimately, it was integrated into Metal Gear Solid 4, with a standalone release hitting Japan on July 17, 2008. However, the servers for Metal Gear Online 2 were taken offline on June 12, 2012, although dedicated fans have established fan servers to keep the action alive.
