Mass Effect: Andromeda kicks off in 2185 when the Andromeda Initiative launches its ambitious mission to colonize the Andromeda galaxy using massive starships known as arks. A diverse alliance of Milky Way species—including humans, asari, turians, salarians, and krogan—embarks on this 600-year journey, with crew members placed in cryostasis to prevent aging during their travels. Before setting off, the Initiative identifies ‘golden worlds’ within Andromeda’s Heleus cluster, pinpointing areas recognized as ideal for colonization.
