Blending action role-playing game mechanics from its predecessors, Legend of Mana showcases a unique gameplay experience. Players can actively shape the vibrant world of Fa’Diel according to their preferences through the innovative use of “artifacts,” which are collected as the game unfolds. These artifacts allow players to craft various towns, dungeons, and other locations known as “Lands” to explore, resulting in a non-linear gameplay experience driven by numerous side quests. The game features three intertwining narratives, which can unfold simultaneously and don’t have to be completed to reach the conclusion.
Upon its release, Legend of Mana achieved significant commercial success in Japan. It received high praise for its stunning graphics and artistic presentation, though some critics and fans expressed disappointment over the absence of a central storyline.
Embark on an epic adventure in the enchanting world of Fa’Diel, as seen in Legend of Mana. Nine centuries before the storyline unfolds, the Mana Tree— the source of life and mana for the realm— was tragically destroyed, sparking a fierce conflict between faeries, humans, and various factions fighting for the remaining, precious mana. Following the war’s end, the weakened Mana Tree fell into a long slumber, and the diverse lands of Fa’Diel were sealed within ancient artifacts. As the player, you take on the role of a courageous hero, on a mission to rejuvenate the world and restore its mana to its former glory. Fa’Diel is teeming with an array of fascinating creatures, including humans, faeries, demons, the jewel-hearted Jumi, and whimsical plant-like Sproutlings and Flowerlings. Encounter the industrious miner bears known as Dudbears, and shadowy entities from the Underworld called Shadoles. This magical realm also hosts an assortment of anthropomorphic animals and quirky objects, along with classic monsters from previous Mana games, featuring Rabites, Chobin Hoods, and Goblins.
