Elvira: Mistress of the Dark
Elvira: Mistress of the Dark is a classic survival horror game developed by Horrorsoft and launched by Accolade in 1990 for platforms like the Amiga, Atari ST, Commodore 64, and MS-DOS. This title marked Horrorsoft’s second release following the cult hit Personal Nightmare in 1989, featuring the iconic actress Cassandra Peterson as Elvira, the witch.
In this thrilling adventure, Elvira finds herself imprisoned by sinister forces within the castle of her ancestor, Queen Emelda. Players take on the role of a courageous hero navigating through this eerie castle to rescue Elvira and thwart the resurrection of the malevolent sorceress. The critically acclaimed game spawned a sequel, Elvira II: The Jaws of Cerberus, in 1991, along with a spiritual successor, Waxworks, in 1992.
