Doom

Doom Classic is an iconic sci-fi first-person shooter, brought to life by id Software and Nerve Software, and published by Bethesda Softworks. This revamped version of the legendary 1993 Doom utilizes the Unity engine alongside the id Tech 1 engine for enhanced gameplay.

Originally launched as part of a collection of classic Doom ports for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android, both Doom Classic and Doom II Classic faced significant backlash due to their subpar quality and discrepancies when compared to earlier console releases. The ports also included a controversial always-online DRM system that required players to log in to a Bethesda.net account for accessing Slayers Club rewards, despite lacking any online multiplayer options.

In response to the early criticism, Nerve Software took action to address the login issues and improve the overall performance through various patches. Additionally, a PC version of Doom Classic was made available on Bethesda.net on January 9, 2020, and later re-released on Steam on September 3, 2020, providing a free update to current owners of The Ultimate Doom.
