In August 1941, Private Lucas Riggs finds himself stationed in Tobruk, Libya, as part of the legendary Australian-led Rats of Tobruk garrison. After a failed ambush on the Royal Italian Army and the fearsome Africa Korps, Riggs teams up with fellow Rat Private Desmond “Des” Wilmot and British lieutenant Robert Jacobs on a mission to secure vital supplies for the British Army. Their efforts lead to them uncovering crucial intelligence on General Erwin Rommel while also taking down a German supply depot. However, their insubordination sees them facing Major Henry Hamms. Fast forward to 1942 during the epic Battle of El Alamein, Riggs defies Hamms’ orders to hold the defensive line and instead, makes a daring move to reclaim a hill with Des by his side. Although they succeed, Des tragically pays the ultimate price. Frustrated with the lack of recognition for the Rats’ sacrifices, Riggs confronts Hamms, resulting in him grappling with the harsh reality of prison time.
