Story:

The beginning of The Pre-Sequel takes place shortly after the events of Borderlands 2 and right after Episode 3 of Tales from the Borderlands, set in the airborne city of Sanctuary. Here, former Vault Hunters Lilith, Brick, and Mordecai interrogate the ex-Atlas assassin Athena, who shares her tale starting from after General Knoxx’s demise. Athena was recruited by a Hyperion programmer named Jack to locate a Vault on Pandora’s moon, Elpis. As she teams up with fellow Vault Hunters Claptrap, Nisha, Wilhelm, Timothy, and Aurelia on a ship heading to Hyperion’s moon base Helios, they are ambushed by the Lost Legion, an army of former Dahl marines commanded by Colonel Tungsteena Zarpedon, leading to a crash landing on the moon base. After reuniting with Jack, they try to leverage Helios’ defense systems against the Lost Legion but discover a jamming signal emanating from Elpis. Their escape is thwarted by Zarpedon and a mysterious alien warrior, forcing Jack to stay back and fight, while the Vault Hunters are launched to Elpis in a moonshot rocket.

Upon arrival on Elpis, the Vault Hunters meet Janey Springs, a junk dealer who directs them to the bustling town of Concordia. At Jack’s directive, they seek assistance from his ex-girlfriend Moxxi to track down the jamming signal. Through their efforts at a former Dahl station
