Battlefield 4

In contrast to its predecessor, Battlefield 4’s Campaign unfolds primarily in chronological order, featuring the character Recker as the player protagonist throughout. The action kicks off in Baku, Azerbaijan, where Tombstone Squad—comprised of Recker, Dunn, Irish, and Pac—flee the city with crucial intelligence while Russian special forces chase them down. When their escape vehicle crashes into the sea, Dunn, who is critically injured, hands Recker his pistol and instructs him to shoot out the windshield. Hesitant but compelled, Recker fires the window, resulting in Dunn drowning while the others manage to swim to safety. As they surface, Recker and the team hear Captain Garrison on the phone discussing intel about Admiral Chang’s impending military coup, which, if successful, would secure full Russian support, corroborating earlier reports from a Chinese asset.

Tombstone returns to the USS Valkyrie, an amphibious assault carrier heading to China’s eastern shores, where Garrison briefs them on the assassination of Chinese presidential candidate Jin Jié, with Chang managing to convince China that the U.S. was behind it. Garrison then assigns Tombstone, now led by Recker, a covert operation in Shanghai to rescue VIPs Kovic, Hannah, and her husband. The team also navigates a civilian tourist boat as an electromagnetic pulse disrupts all electronics in the area. Despite the risks, Irish leads civilian refugees to the Valkyrie.
