Dune: Awakening Delayed to June 10, Will Have Large-Scale Beta Next Month

Funcom, the developers of the survival MMORPG Dune: Awakening, has decided to delay the game to June 10. According to them, the delay was due to feedback they’ve received from an active Discord server made to accommodate all players that are in the persistent closed beta.
With that being said, the head start for players who bought the Deluxe or Ultimate edition of the game will now be on June 5. The developers wrote that Dune: Awakening is a “beast of a game” and that they are doing “technical strides not seen in the genre before.” As such, they want the launch to be as smooth as possible.
The delay of the game has allowed them to hold a “large-scale beta weekend” in May, according to the post they have published. However, there is no information on what week the beta is happening and whether it will be in the current persistent closed beta that already exists.
In March, Gaming.News have reported on what kind of monetization the game will have. The developers have clarified that the game will not have any subscription fees, but will have optional paid DLCs. Free updates are also planned for the game.
Dune: Awakening will be available on PC first. Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 versions are planned to be released, but there is no information about when. Funcom also developed Anarchy Online, one of the oldest surviving MMORPGs.
