  • Ghost of Yotei
  • God of War Ragnarok

In September 2024, PlayStation celebrated its 30th anniversary by adding nostalgic themes to the PlayStation 5. It even had a custom boot-up screen paying homage to the first PlayStation console. This showed that the PlayStation 5 really could implement themes.

The predecessor of the PlayStation 5, the PlayStation 4, had a lot of dynamic themes that players enjoyed. Games like Nier: Automata, The Last of Us, and Final Fantasy 7 Remake all had themes with different elements that made them unique.

When the anniversary themes went away on January 31, 2025, the players were sad. However, Sony reiterated that they won’t be gone forever. PlayStation has not commented on when the themes will be back on the PlayStation 5, but they confirmed that there are no plans for making new themes in the future.
