- The whole Doom franchise has sold over 10 million copies worldwide.
Enthusiasts have successfully managed to run the iconic first-person shooter Doom within a Microsoft Word document.
The project was shared on the ItRunsDoom subreddit, allowing players to navigate through the classic game using simple keyboard controls, all within the confines of a Word file.
The project, shared by Reddit user wojtek-graj, was inspired by earlier news referring to the Doom running on a PDF document. Determined to push the limits of creative coding, the developer found a way to render each frame of the game as a BMP image embedded in a Word document. While the game lacks sound, it retains its nostalgic charm with familiar controls like arrow keys for movement, Space to interact, and CTRL to fire. For those curious to try it themselves, instructions are available on the project’s GitHub page.
