Respawn Entertainment is giving Apex Legends players a taste of Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth with its latest limited-time Lunar Rebirth Collection Event, set to launch on Jan. 21 at 10 am PT / 1 pm ET.
The upcoming crossover event blends the worlds of Apex Legends, a 2019 battle royale-hero shooter and Fantasy VII: Rebirth 2024 ARPG, the second in a planned trilogy of games remaking the 1997 PlayStation game Final Fantasy VII.
This collaboration isn’t Respawn’s first cooperation with Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth content, as a similar crossover event took place in early 2024.
The event was unveiled through a trailer on Respawn’s official YouTube channel, showcasing cosmetic upgrades that reimagine popular Legends as Final Fantasy VII characters. Crypto takes on the role of Cloud Strife, Wraith channels Tifa Lockhart, Horizon embodies Aerith Gainsborough, and Wattson is shown as a Moogle. Players will have the opportunity to collect 36 Final Fantasy-themed cosmetics, including 24 Collection Event skins. Players who manage to collect all Collection Event cosmetics will unlock Alter’s new Voidsnake Prestige Skin.
n addition to the cosmetics, the Lunar Rebirth event marks the return of the Final Fantasy-themed limited-time mode. This gameplay mode introduces collectible Materia that grants Legends unique abilities. In relation to the Final Fantasy series, the iconic Buster Sword is re-entering the loot pool.
