Capcom Celebrates a Fivefold Increase in Profit Over the Decade

|
- Capcom has reported a fivefold increase in operating income over the last 11 years, driven by its focus on digital sales and PC gaming support.
- The company aims to maintain 10% annual operating income growth, supported by a rich portfolio of established IPs.
- Capcom is co-producing a Street Fighter as part of its deepening investment outreach strategy.
A fivefold increase in Capcom’s operating income over the past decade was highlighted in a celebratory statement from Kenzo Tsujimoto, Chairman and CEO, marking the closer of the company’s fiscal year, Kenzo Tsujimoto,
Capcom’s chief attributes this achievement to the company’s strategic shift toward digital sales, robust support for PC gaming, and the ever-expanding success of its flagship IPs, including Monster Hunter and Street Fighter.
In his statement, Kenzo Tsujimoto revealed that Capcom has achieved 11 consecutive years of operating income growth, capping off yet another year of record highs for the seventh year in a row.
Reflecting on Capcom’s evolution, Tsujimoto highlighted that the company’s transformation in the 2010s, which focused on improving digital sales channels and bolstering PC support, was pivotal in ensuring sustainable financial success.
As for future plans, Capcom is deepening its investment in new business avenues such as movies, esports, and licensing. Capcom is already co-producing a Street Fighter movie with Legendary Entertainment, with Kitao Sakurai as director.
It is worth noting that amid the company’s continued reliance on its established IPs, such as Resident Evil and Monster Hunter, not all of Capcom’s projects succeed, as the release of Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess in 2024 failed to meet the company’s sales expectations while received positive reviews.
Kenzo Tsujimoto’s statement comes on the heels of the news about Monster Hunter Wilds becoming Capcom’s fastest-selling game and then suppressing ten million units sold in its first month after release.
