Space-Time Smackdown Expansion is Coming to Pokémon TCG Pocket

Pokémon TCG Pocket gets Space-Time Smackdown expansion on Jan. 30, 2025, bringing over 140 new cards, Sinnoh Pokémon, and fresh gameplay mechanics.
The new update will feature over 140 new cards split between two themed booster packs: Dialga and Palkia. These packs will highlight Sinnoh-themed cards, including Dialga ex, Palkia ex, and the Sinnoh starters Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup.

A key highlight of the expansion is the introduction of Pokémon Tools, a mechanic adapted from the physical Pokémon TCG. It allows players to enhance their cards with unique abilities and effects.
On Jan. 29, the day before the expansion drops, Pokémon TCG Pocket will introduce a trading system. The system will offer:
- Friend-based trading system – a guarantee that trades can only be conducted between players on each other’s friend lists;
- Same-rarity trades setting that will ensure balance when only cards of equivalent rarity can be exchanged;
- Item requirements will allow trading only in the presence of Trade Hourglasses and Trade Tokens.
At launch, only certain cards from Mythical Island and Genetic Apex will be tradable. Cards from the Space-Time Smackdown and other expansions will be included in later iterations.
As of Dec. 12, 2024, Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket has been downloaded over 60 million times since its release on Oct. 30, 2024. The game generated approximately $12 million within its first four days, and by Nov. 15, 2024, it had surpassed $100 million in earnings.
