Take-Two CEO is Not Worried about “Backward-Looking” AI Games

|
- Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnik is not worried about AI games taking over the future.
- He claims AI games are backward facing, and that games need to be forward facing to be successful.
- AI takes from a database of preexisting ideas and concepts.
During an interview with Carolyn Dailey for her book, The Creative Entrepreneur, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnik told the writer that he is “not worried about AI creating hits, because it’s built on data that already exists.”
This notion is based on the fact that AI takes from a database, essentially regurgitating preexisting information. Though the finished product may appear original, the ideas and creative decisions for all artistic creations, including drawings, animations, and writing, from AI are taken from another source.
“It’s backward-looking. Big hits are forward-looking and therefore need to be created out of thin air. Being the most creative means not just thinking outside the box; it means there is no box,” he continued.
GTA VI boss Strauss Zelnick believes creativity is an essential key to success for new games.
“Hire the best creators and insist they pursue their passions. Encourage them to always try something new and to stay away from derivative and copycat works.”
The increasing prevalence of AI is undoubtedly oozing into game development. The technology is growing fast, with hardware and software surrounding the technology holding immense prevalence in current day global economics. Many investors believe AI will play a pivotal role in the future. Since AI has roots in gaming history, the technology is intimately connected with gaming itself.
