Death Stranding has reached a mark of 20 million players, according to the Kojima Productions’ announcement. The news is coming ahead with the planned release on June 26,2025, on PlayStation 5, a sequel named Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
The first entry in the series has been released on multiple platforms since its initial launch in 2019. It is now available on PlayStation 4|5, both macOS and Windows PCs, Xbox Series X|S, iPhones, iPads and Amazon Luna.
The initial game of the franchise has won eleven awards in different nominations across multiple ceremonies dedicated to the achievements in the video game industry.
As for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, it builds on the foundation of its predecessor but will be offering a bigger world, improved traversal tools, and more immersive environmental interactions. On top of that, the sequel is about to bring real-time terrain changes, where natural disasters like floods, forest fires, and earthquakes will reshape the landscape, influencing gameplay. The game is also about refining the movement system, getting new types of vehicles, and a deeper focus on player-driven world-building along with a deeper and more emotional narrative, continuing the exploration of themes from the first title.
On top of that, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will be including Neil, a character played by Italian actor Luca Marinelli, who bears a striking resemblance to Solid Snake, a fictional character created by Hideo Kojima for the Metal Gear series developed and published by Konami.
