  1. CD Projekt Red teams up with Scopely, the second-biggest mobile developer in the world in terms of revenue as of 2024.
  2. Michał Nowakowski, CEO of CDPR, states that they don’t implement generative AI in the games, including Witcher IV.
  3. Cyberpunk 2077 and its DLC Phantom Liberty are about to land on Apple’s Macs in 2025.

Expansion of the Witcher IV development team, collaboration with Scopely and Cyberpunk universe highlights were revealed in a recently published CD Projekt Red’s FY 2024 Earnings report and related earnings call, along with the company’s position on generative AI  and other details.

In the report, CD Projekt Red (CDPR) highlighted the continuing success of Cyberpunk 2077 and its DLC Phantom Liberty. As of November 2024, the original game had sold 30 million copies, and its expansion sold 8 million units. On top of that, the company stated that a new Cyberpunk animation project for Netflix is coming soon, while the original game and its DLC are about to land on Apple’s Macs in 2025.

Besides that, CDPR emphasized that The Witcher 4 had the most watched trailer from The Game Awards’ slate of game premieres and had the most press coverage, outrunning Elden Ring Nightreign, Helldivers 2: Omens of Tyranny, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (measured in total article appearances and headlines in 72 hours following the The Games Awards 2024).

On top of that, due to the graphics of the Development teams engaged in ongoing projects, it became clear that between Oct. 31, 2024, and Feb. 28, 2025, CDPR brought on 57 new employees, with 11 of them joining the already massive team working on The Witcher 4, increasing the total number to 411.

Without any details, the company also announced that it is about to team up with Scopely , the second-biggest mobile developer in the world in terms of revenue as of 2024. The news is coming on the heels of the announcement that Scopely is about to acquire Niantic’s gaming division in a $3.5 billion deal, which includes games such as Pokémon Go, Pikmin Bloom, and Monster Hunter Now and companion apps Campfire and Wayfarer.

It is also worth mentioning that during the earnings call related to the FY 2024 financial presentation, CDPR’s CEO Michał Nowakowski shared some details about the company’s view on the implementation of generative AI, saying the studio is not using generative AI on The Witcher IV or other in-development games because of potential legal entanglements.

“I think we mentioned before that last year [2024], we set up a team that’s investigating the potential use of AI solutions in our future products, including the development of our own customized AI models,” Nowakowski said in response to a question about the use of generative AI in CD Projekt’s future games. “And we have several research projects underway. However, they are really not necessarily focusing on generative AI. Gen AI, to be honest, is quite tricky when it comes to legal IP ownership and so on, and many other aspects. So when it comes to implementation of any gen AI in the actual games, we really have nothing happening when it comes to Witcher IV or any projects in the near future.”
