System Shock 2 Remaster’s release date was revealed as a part of the game’s 25th anniversary announcement during Future Games Show Spring Showcase. The game launches on June 25, 2025 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. 

The pre-purchase page for Steam is now up — it costs $26.99 at the moment, later increasing to $29.99 once the game officially releases. 

Here are the PC system requirements for System Shock 2 Remaster: 

MINIMUM:

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS *: Windows 7 (64-bit required)
  • Processor: Intel or AMD Dual-Core at 2.0 GHz
  • Memory: 2 GB RAM
  • Graphics: GPU with DirectX 11 or Vulkan 1.1 support
  • Storage: 420 MB available space
  • Sound Card: 100% DirectX compatible sound card or onboard sound

RECOMMENDED:

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10 (64-bit required)
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-2300 2.8 GHz/AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0 GHz or equivalent
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Graphics: GPU with DirectX 11 or Vulkan 1.1 support
  • Storage: 420 MB available space
  • Sound Card: 100% DirectX compatible sound card or onboard sound

The original System Shock 2 was a genre defining experience, showcasing innovative FPS and RPG genre mechanics that have become staples in industry. The goal of the single-player game is to survive amidst the chaos.

Unlike the original, which was developed by Looking Glass Studios, the remaster of the title is being handled by Nightdive Studios — a studio renowned for their expertise in remastering classic games while preserving the original game’s core identity.
