Xbox Adaptive Joystick was released at Microsoft Ability Summit 2025 on March 18, 2025. A versatile controller designed specifically for players with limited mobility aims to offer a customizable gaming experience.

The device, which was originally announced in August 2024, is tailored to support a one-handed playstyle and comes equipped with an analog stick, four face buttons, and two trigger buttons. Each of them can be customized through the Xbox Accessories app.

The controller also features a mount for players who may need to attach it to something. In addition, device’s adaptive thumbstick toppers can be personalized by users with 3D printed parts, while the files for creating these are available in the Xbox Design Lab. The joystick is compatible with Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, Windows 11 (x64 devices) and Xbox Adaptive Controller which was released on September 4, 2018. 

Besides that, at the 15th annual Microsoft Ability Summit, the company showcased the continued integration of AI into Microsoft’s accessibility features.

Tobii Dynavox company, which is integrating Microsoft’s Neural Voice, a feature powered by Azure AI Speech, into its assistive communication solutions, announced that now their AI-driven tech offers personalized voices across over 50 languages via apps TD Talk and TD Phone.

On top of that, Microsoft Teams is set to roll out updates later this year for those using Sign Language View. Teams will soon be able to detect sign language during video calls and automatically prioritize sign language users as primary speakers.
