Star Wars Hunters, Zynga’s free-to-play 4v4 shooter, will shut down on October 1, less than a year after its official launch. The game will receive its final update on April 15, after which it will remain playable until the shutdown date.
In a statement on the game’s official website, Zynga acknowledged the disappointment among players and assured that the decision was not made lightly. “Your passion and dedication to the game and its community have meant the world to us, and we are committed to providing visibility and updates throughout the transition process,” the company stated.
Although players will still be able to play Star Wars Hunters until October, Zynga has confirmed that crystal purchases will not be refunded, instead encouraging players to spend their remaining premium currency before April 15. Season 5 of the game will be extended by three weeks, and previous events and shop bundles will return. The ranked season will also continue, allowing more players to reach the Kyber 1 rank before the game shuts down.
The April 15 update will introduce one final playable character, Tuya, a new support hunter available for free. This update will also introduce a last ranked mode, giving players one final chance to compete before the servers shut down.
