Naoki Yoshida, the longtime director and producer of Final Fantasy XIV, has addressed speculation about his executive status at Square Enix, confirming that he remains in his role despite recent rumors suggesting otherwise.

During the pre-show for FF14 Live Letter 86, Yoshida clarified that his position within the company has not changed.

The speculation stemmed from a company report that did not list him among Square Enix’s executives, leading some fans to believe he had stepped down. However, Yoshida stated that while his title is shifting from director to executive officer later this year, this is not a sign of a demotion or departure.

Yoshida also laughed off claims that he had wanted to leave the executive team, reiterating that he remains dedicated to making fun games and hopes for continued support from fans. With the speculation settled, Yoshida turned his focus back to the upcoming Final Fantasy XIV 7.2 patch, which introduces new content to the long-running MMORPG.
