  3. Microsoft plans to expand Copilot for Gaming to the wider Xbox ecosystem after gathering users’ feedback.

A new AI-powered assistant called Copilot for Gaming is set to launch in April 2025 within the Xbox Insiders program, according to Fatima Kardar, Vice President of Gaming AI at Microsoft.

The new feature will first appear on the Xbox mobile app and will be available for participants of the Xbox Insiders program. Microsoft states that Copilot for Gaming is about: “Helping you get to your favorite games faster, coaching you to improve your skills, and connecting you better with your friends and communities.”

In an official announcement, Microsoft also states that a new AI-powered assistant is built on three principles: capability, adaptability, and personalization. As the company claims, it will be available to adapt to Xbox users’ needs. It will assist players in different ways, from personalized game recommendations and seamless game setup to helpful coaching and maintaining connections with friends, tracking in-game progress and offering advice on which hero to choose in a title like Overwatch 2.

Fatima Kardar, Corporate Vice President of Gaming AI at Microsoft, stated that the company’s goal is to make the experience non-intrusive and that user feedback will be crucial in refining the assistant’s functionality, ensuring it stays helpful without overwhelming players.

While Copilot for Gaming will initially be exclusive to Xbox mobile app users on start, Microsoft plans to expand the service across the entire Xbox ecosystem over time.

On top of that, the Official Xbox Podcast, Jason Ronald, Vice President of Xbox Gaming Devices & Ecosystem, announced during the same podcast episode that over 1,000 titles now support Xbox Play Anywhere, a program from Microsoft that allows users to buy a game once and play it on both Xbox consoles and Windows 10/11 PCs without having to repurchase it. It also automatically syncs saved games and achievements across both platforms.
