The new expansion Khans of the Steppe is coming to Crusader Kings 3 on April 28, 2025. This new content, which comes as part of the game’s fourth chapter, will be about the world of nomadic life and the rise of the Great Mongol Khan.
The upcoming game’s new content is about to bring the vast steppes as players assume the role of a young Genghis Khan, aiming to fulfill the prophecy of the Scourge of God. The expansion introduces the Mongol Nomadic Government system, which will require players to manage mobile populations. On top of that, the new Tributaries system will allow players to form strategic alliances and gather resources within smaller territories.
The game’s map is being expanded to include previously unseen areas of China, Japan, and Southeast Asia. Each region will feature unique governments, special events, and character roles. Additionally, in a new event pack, players will be tasked with organizing a grand coronation to showcase the wealth and power of a new ruler ascending to the throne.
Crusader Kings III was developed by Paradox Development Studio and published by Paradox Interactive as a sequel to Crusader Kings (2004) and Crusader Kings II (2012). As of September 2023, the game has sold over 3 million copies worldwide, surpassing 1 million copies within its first month of release in September 2020 and reaching 2 million units by March 2022.
