World of Warcraft Guild Exploits Raid To Achieve First Completion, Gets Banned, Flips its Name, and Does It Again

- Guild RAoV (Random Acts of Violation) used an exploit to defeat the Mythic difficulty version of the new raid boss, Chrome King Gallywix, equipped only with gray gear.
- Blizzard banned the accounts involved, resetting the raid’s Hall of Fame to ensure fair competition.
- The guild reformed under “ecnarussAeR ytilauQ VoAR,” which is their original name spelt backwards, and beat the raid again allegedly using the same exploit.
World of Warcraft’s patch update added a new raid – and as is tradition, players came together to compete with the goal of beating the Mythic world first. A guild named RAoV (Random Acts of Violation) destroyed the raid, beating Mythic King Gallywix using only gray gear, which is the lowest possible quality equipment. This indicated an exploit of in-game mechanics, prompting Blizzard to take action.
“Our security engineers quickly moved to put a stop to the cheat and [took] action against the accounts involved, and we have cleared the Hall of Fame to await the rightful winner of the [race to world first],” Blizzard announced.
A couple days after the guild was banned, the members reportedly reformed under new accounts, and beat the raid again – once again being celebrated for their first completion accomplishment, with the guild name being posted in the Mythic Raid Hall of Fame.
The new guild name is “ecnarussAeR ytilauQ VoAR,” which spells out RAoV Quality Assurance backwards, poking fun at Blizzard.
The exact exploit has not been revealed. But one of the account profiles, nicknamed BadLuckMax, shows that the VoAr was able to slay all eight bosses of the new raid. The alleged exploiter wore Mythic “Rushed Beta Launchers leather boots,” equipment that are essentially useless for a Paladin – which is the user’s class. The community expects the guild utilized the exploit again.
