Key points

  1. Path of Exile 2’s worst class, Warrior, is dominating the any% speedrun of the game.
  2. Angormus, the speedrunner piloting the Warrior, was able to finish the first run forty minutes ahead of second place.
  3. Path of Exile 2 is currently in Early Access and available on Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X.

Angormus is dominating the any% official speedrun of Path of Exile 2 using a class that the community thought was the worst. He finished the March 2 speedrun forty minutes before the second one did.

The Warrior has been considered as the undisputed worst class in Path of Exile 2. PCGamesN as well as GamesRadar ranked it as the worst in their respective tier lists, but Angormus had other ideas. He used the class and has dominated the first two any% speedrun of Path of Exile 2.

Any% speedruns are all about getting to the end the fastest. This means that the player must be skilled enough to abuse the game’s mechanics which is what Angormus did in the speedrun. Warriors have the ability Rolling Slam which they are able to cancel into Boneshatter. The reason Warriors are canceling this ability is because the second slam has a long animation compared to Boneshatter.

Warriors also have access to two abilities that can be used as gap closers: Shield Charge and Leap Slam. Players can use these abilities to traverse the terrain quickly and sometimes even jump to a higher platform that would otherwise require the player to use the stairs.

Angormus was able to use these abilities–as well as some really lucky drops–to his advantage and was able to dominate the very first official speedrun competition of Path of Exile 2.

In the very first run, which happened on March 2, his run could’ve been faster. According to the casters, the game’s final boss could have been slayed faster if Angormus didn’t miss a Perfect Striker which would skip a phase and make the run even cleaner. In the second run, which happened on March 9, Angormus was able to cut his time by 2 minutes.

Path of Exile 2 was released in Early Access on December 7, 2024. The game is available on Steam, PlayStation 5, Epic Games Store, and Xbox Series S/X.
