- A second USB-C port at the top part of the console will be able to provide charging for the console, according to the same filing.
- A Nintendo Switch 2 direct will happen on April 2.
A Federal Communication Commission (FCC) filing for the Nintendo Switch 2 revealed that the device will support Wi-Fi 6 and have NFC. The filing was first spotted by folks over at The Verge.
According to the filing, the upcoming Nintendo console will also feature a second USB-C port at the top which allows charging. This means that users will be able to charge the Nintendo Switch 2 in two different ways in terms of orientations.
Regarding the Wi-Fi upgrade, The Verge mentioned that the Nintendo Switch 2 tests only included 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks. The 6GHz band wasn’t included in the test, despite the filing saying the device supports it.
The Nintendo Switch 2 has been slowly being pieced together by the community through publicly available resources. In February, a patent that talks about a “mouse-like feature” for the new joy-cons was spotted. This feature was something that was teased during the official announcement of the console.
Industry leaders have also talked about the much-awaited console. Shuhei Yoshida, former president of PlayStation, thought that the mouse feature of the upcoming console would make it feel easier for Switch players to play first-person shooters on the console.
Xbox boss, Phil Spencer, also mentioned that Xbox will be one of the major supporters of the Nintendo Switch 2. According to a leak, Microsoft signed a deal with Nintendo to bring Call of Duty to the console.
The Nintendo Switch 2’s release date is still unannounced. A French publisher, Nacon, believes that the Switch 2 will be released before October based on a financial report they published in January.
Nintendo will hold a Switch 2 direct on April 2, 2025. The direct is expected to provide more information regarding the console as well as its release date.
