The first of four major 2025 updates for Warhammer 40,000: Darktide was officially announced by Fatshark. Titled Nightmares & Visions, the update is set to launch across all supported platforms on March 25, 2025, bringing new content, gameplay modes, and balance changes.
The highlight of the update is the introduction of Mortis Trials, a new activity centered around the visions induced by the mysterious Psyker. Each time in Sefoni’s visions, players will battle waves of enemies, selecting abilities and buffs for the duration of the trial. Completing Mortis Trials will unveil hidden lore about some characters on Mourningstar. Also, to celebrate the release of Nightmares & Visions, Fatshark will be hosting a time-limited special event focused on Mortis Trials, with more details on this event expected closer to launch.
Following player feedback, Havoc mode is getting a difficulty increase and a reassessed ranking system. Additionally, four new mutators are being introduced.
For the Ogryn class, Fatshark is delivering a major rework of Ogryn’s Talent Tree. The overhaul aims to provide more build diversity, while also tweaking a few of his weapons.
Alongside these headline changes, the update will bring balance adjustments and general gameplay improvements. Fatshark has also confirmed a series of developer blogs and livestreams leading up to the update, offering a deeper dive into the upcoming content.
